Research and Planning - Layout Designs

My Headline is about ‘Justin Bieber’s number 1 winning streak’. This  links to pop music as he is a pop artist. Also the anchorage explains that we talk to him about his life and his future which links to the gossip aspect of pop magazines. I chose to have the text pink as it contrasts with the header and the footer.

My cover lines are ‘The gossip on V festival’,  ‘Is Rochelle and Marvin’s relationship on the rocks?’ and ‘Top 10 Review’. The first 2 cover lines relate to the gossip aspect of pop magazines, but also music as it’s about a pop music festival and members of 2 pop bands. The ‘top 10 review’ is also my double page spread as my questionnaire results show 73.3% of people would rather read reviews.

The Masthead of my magazine is “neon beat” as neon is related to pop and beat is related to music. I have chosen to have it in the font billo as it is bubble writing and reminds me of pop music. I have chosen to put the colours as white text against a pink background as I want the text to stand out. Also the pink background links to my target audience of young girls as my questionnaire results show the most popular audience are 11-20 year old girls.

The pug is “win an ipad” which links to my target audience as it is something most young girls would want. The colour is yellow as it differs from the pink and white theme making it stand out.

The footer says ‘See Lawson Live! – And Meet The Boys Backstage!’ This links to the pop genre as Lawson are a pop boy band. I chose to have white text against a pink background to mirror the masthead theme.

The running head is a smaller version of the masthead from the front cover to keep the theme going throughout.

The word ‘Contents’ is written in pink on a white background mirroring the theme of the front cover.

Each section has a different heading, which explains the different aspects of the magazine. It is written in white against a pink background, which mirrors the colour theme throughout.

The main image will be of one of the artists or bands mentioned in the contents page.

The editors letter will include a bit about what the magazine is about and includes this issue and how it was made.

The running head of “neon beat” is there as a reminder of what this magazine is.

The Headline is personal to the magazine and the writer of this article. This is because it is about the writers opinion on each song in the top 10. It is written in a sans serif font in a big size in he coour pink to appeal to my target audience of young girls.

As it is a double page spread I decided to use columns, which is a common convention in magazine stories.

The stand-first is short but explains what the article is about and also explains that it is personal to the magazine as it is the writers opinion. It is written in white against a pink background which is mirroring the house style and colour theme.

The main image will be of some of the celebrities who are featured in my double page spread story.
